Teaching Core Words


AAC can feel overwhelming and sometimes it is hard to know where to start teaching since there is this new piece of technology to consider! Providing Aided Language Input (ALI) is one thing, but how does one go about targeted TEACHING of specific words?

Here are some great resources for how to teach core words within meaningful and fun contexts. Grab a beverage of choice, take some time, and explore some of these rich resources!

Saskia Splane

Saskia Splane is a Speech Language Pathologist specializing in AAC assessment and implementation. Before becoming an SLP, she worked with autistic adults in the supported living setting and that is where she developed a passion for helping people develop the ability to say whatever they want to say, whenever they want to say it.
