AAC Awareness deals and opportunities written by Christy Flores MS CCC SLP

AAC Awareness Month Specials

October 2022

2022 Theme - Show Your Voice

AAC Awareness is coming in October and there are many deals and learning opportunities.

I scoured the web to find deals, but Lauren S. (Enders) Gonzales, M.A., CCC-SLP۩ did such a great job, I thought I would share her graphic instead:

She has AAC app deals for the major companies and also some lesser-known ones.

Beyond the great deals, remember this month is to share awareness of AAC. The theme to share with your posts this month is Show your voice.

ISAAC has many suggestions on how to share awareness in October and also will be having a one day meeting to be announced here: https://isaac-online.org/english/aac-awareness/aac-awareness-month-2022/

Twinkl https://www.twinkl.com/event/aac-speech-pathology-australia-2022

Has many resources to share in October as well and also good descriptions of what AAC is.

Arlington Public Schools in Virginia has put together a good list of resources including blogs, podcasts, articles and trainings here https://www.apsva.us/special-education/parent-resource-center/aac-awareness-week-resources-for-educators-2/

Heartspring has a few good suggetions on how to get the word out to Showyourvoice. This is a post from 2 years ago, but I like the ideas they shared and especially that they named a few books that have characters that use AAC.

My question for you is, how can you share awareness for AAC. Please send in your ideas!
