The Tennessee AT Project Assistive Technology Lending Library provides school districts in Tennessee

free access to equipment, materials, and supports for use when evaluating or addressing the needs of students with disabilities ages 3-22. The library is intended to support schools by providing access to devices and tools:

  • for trial use during student AT assessments

  • for temporary use when a school or student-owned device is unavailable or out for maintenance, and

  • for use during professional development or training activities

Who is eligible to borrow:

Use of the library will require a signed usage agreement from each district's Special Education Director. The Special Education Director may designate (or limit) staff who may request loans.

How can I reserve equipment? 

After creating an account, you can add items to your cart in MyTurn and when complete, click “check out”. 

 

How many items can I borrow at one time? 

Five total, including 2 iPads (if requested) 

 

Can I come to a physical location to see the library? 

All items will be shipped to your school’s central office for pickup. 

  

Can I pick up my items instead of having them shipped? 

Not currently. 

 

Can I keep them longer than 30 days? 

If the items are not requested by another borrower, you may renew them one time for 30 days.  

 

Who is responsible if the item is broken, lost or damaged? 

Our equipment is insured for shipping and normal use. If lost, the borrower will be responsible for the replacement. 

 

What happens if I lose the charger or an accessory? 

If an item is lost or not returned, the borrower is responsible for a replacement. 

 

What should I do if the item is not working when I receive it or stops working in my possession?

What should I do if I don’t know/ understand how the device works?

Do you provide training with assistive technology/apps? 

Yes, we have resources we can send you or we may schedule a zoom call to help walk you through the steps. 

 

Can the items borrowed go home with the student? 

It is under the discretion of the therapist working with the student. If they feel the device will be responsibly used and taken care of, they may choose to allow the device to go home with the student. 

 

How can I get another or different app on the borrowed iPad after it is in my possession?  

We have an online management system that allows us to install an app remotely. The iPad will have to be connected to Wi-Fi to install. Availability of apps will be assessed upon request. Contact the lending library manager at.library@ltvec.org with requests.
